Back when my makeup collection was considerably smaller, my technique was considerably more questionable, and spending more than ten bucks on one product felt financially irresponsible. So yes, I have a soft spot for e.l.f. I’ve watched it go from the affordable brand I grabbed as a teenager to the brand casually taking over my TikTok feed every six business days. And while I love seeing an old favorite have its moment, nostalgia is not enough to earn a good review around here. Enter the [e.l.f. But does it actually work? --- ## What It Claims e.l.f. calls Halo Glow a liquid complexion booster designed to give skin a dewy, radiant, soft-focus appearance. You can wear it alone, underneath makeup, mixed with foundation, or use it as a highlighter. Basically, it wants to be four products while taking up the space of one. Respect. ## First Things First: This Is Not Foundation If you're expecting this to cover a breakout, erase your under-eye circles, and make everyone believe you've been sleeping eight hours a night, we're going to need to manage expectations. Halo Glow gives *light coverage.* What it *does* do is make bare skin look noticeably more alive. The finish is glowy without immediately entering Tin Man territory, and there's enough tint to make everything look slightly more even. It's very *my skin, but I drink water now.* ## But Does It Actually Blur? Here's where we're going to fight with the marketing department a little. Sort of. Your pores do not disappear. Your skin does not suddenly become FaceTuned. You still look like a human being with human skin. But the glow reflects enough light that your complexion can look smoother and healthier overall. So is it a literal filter? No. Does it make your skin look better? Yeah. Annoyingly, it kind of does. --- ## The Best Way to Wear It For me, this is where Halo Glow really earns its keep: under foundation. Apply a thin layer, put your normal foundation or skin tint over it, and you get that slightly luminous finish without looking like you dipped your face in highlighter. And maybe I’m a little biased because teenage me will always have some loyalty to e.l.f., but adult me has higher standards and considerably more makeup taking over her bathroom.
